Heritage Stone also offers quartz countertops from products such as CaesarStone® and Dupont Zodiaq®. These products offer an alternative to granite and marble in many applications.
What are quartz surfaces?
Quartz surfaces are man made stone. They are generally composed of a large amount of quartz, coloring and an adhesive. Quartz is a natural mineral found in sand and many rock formations. Slabs for quartz countertops
are generally made by mixing the quartz, color and adhesive and pouring it into a mold and subjecting the mold to vibration, heat and pressure. The result is a slab of man made stone that has many properties similar to
natural stone slabs. While these products are similar to natural products they also have their differences.
How are quartz surfaces different than granite?
Quartz surfaces are generally more consistent than surfaces composed of natural stone. Becuase quartz is man made the composition of the products and the process used to manufacture the surfaces can be tightly controlled.
This produces product with very consistent coloring, slab size and a lack of the veins and fissures sometimes visible in granite and marble. Quartz surfaces can also be manufactured in colors not generally found in nature - bright
whites and other strong colors (for example bright apple green) are available. Some customers find the consistency of quartz surfaces appealing while other find the natural colors and individual personality of natural marble and
granite more to their liking. There is no perfect product, you will need to find what best matches your personal taste and budget.
